Student Life

Overview

needs content

Residential Life

The MAC has no formal campus as we are constantly moving.

We will utilize campgrounds, hostels, hotels, fields, side of the road, on the beach,  and at the top of mountains.

Where do you want to spend your weekends?

You want to have more than one location for study abroad?

Student Activities

Athletics

Each of our cohorts is designed to focus on one competitive sport. In the first cohort the sport is soccer. Another cohort could be a different degree and soccer, or same degree with another sport, like basketball.

We will not be affiliated with any organization, e.g. NCAA. We play for growth and pride.

Competitions will occur against competitive teams from around the country and the globe. We aim to compete against D1/D2 teams as they have more flexibility in the offseason. Where appropriate we will also face competitive private or preparatory high schools.

Our goal is to forge relationships with national or professional teams, acting as an informal farm-team.

Oh, and our mascots, The Fighting Cottons. The breed is Coton de Tulear.

Health and Wellbeing

The health and wellbeing of our candidates starts before you even apply. These programs are incessantly challenging, whether it is the intensity of the academics or the stresses of travel.

Students must have health insurance, and travel health coverage.

Students will not be admitted that do not have a therapist, and scheduled tele-health appointments monthly for the duration of their candidacy.

Students will be monitored daily due to the close involvement of the faculty.

On-call psychologists will provide consult in times of emergency.

Finally, we require candidates to have three personal supporters (e.g. two parents and a coach) who are part of the candidate’s team, and available for communication and consult. The policy of FERPA (think HIPPA for academics) is unacceptable if not detrimental, which is the main reason for avoiding state and federal loans or grants. It is not an option at our school as we believe in the old adage “it takes a village…”.

Diversity and Inclusion

include nonprofit legal discrimination policy

The goal of our institutional soul is to provide opportunities for diversity and inclusion by way of our travels. Our curricular and extra-curricular activities are structured to guarantee that our students will have interactions with as many sects of society as possible.

We could never recruit to that level, so we will make it happen by programming. Keep in mind that while schools can enroll a diverse student body, it does not promise interaction or growth to the extent we will make available essentially required.

Diversity is a marker for consideration of enrollment. After we have accepted our bidding and traditional applicants, we will intentionally put our thumb on the scale to build out the cohort in the most diverse manner.

Here the founder will use his influence to attract from all marginalized or excluded peoples. He considers the following groups to be important to represent, for their historical subjugation and disregard – Indigenous Peoples, Blacks, Blue Collar, Military, lead the way.
